China Ties Costa Rica in U-17 World Cup Opener Ten-man Chinese team tied their Costa Rican counterpart 1-all in the opener of Group A at the FIFA under-17 Youth World Cup in Lima. Costa Rica drew first blood ten minutes into the game when midfield Carrillo Roberto scored on a pass from his teammate Solórzano Jean. China soon equalized the score with a right-footed shot from defender Tang Naixin in the 17th minute. The Costa Ricans launched several attacks in the second half, but Chinese goalkeeper Wang Dalei successfully fended off all shots on goal. China could not make use of the few opportunities they had in counterattacks. Referee Kamikawa Toru of Japan pulled out a red card for Chinese defender Gu Cao after he fouled Myrie Dave in the 80th minute. Group A is includes host Peru, Ghana, China and Costa Rica.
