Bus collision kills 25, 62 injured in Morocco

Two buses collided Tuesday on a highway linking Marrakech and Agadir in
Morocco, killing 25 people and injuring 62 others, authorities said.
Moroccan officials said excessive speed appeared to be a factor in the
accident on Tuesday morning, on national highway 8 about 20 kilometers (15
miles) from Marrakech.
Local authorities said 25 people were killed and 62 injured. The official MAP
news agency said 11 of those hurt were in a serious condition.
Morocco launched a road safety program in 2004 to try to bring down the high
number of deaths on its roads. Nearly 3,900 people were killed and 15,000
injured in traffic accidents in 2004, the most recent figures.
