如何表達(dá)“善后”

7月25日，炮火再傷聯(lián)合國(guó)駐黎巴嫩臨時(shí)部隊(duì)和軍事觀察員，而這一次，中國(guó)人不幸上了死亡者名單。在對(duì)遇難人員表示深切哀悼的同時(shí)，胡錦濤主席立即指示有關(guān)部門“妥善處理我遇難人員善后工作”。

很多時(shí)候，“在漢語上下功夫”才是中英文互譯的突破口。要譯好“善后”，得首要理解“善后”的含義——災(zāi)變喪亂后，妥善處理遺留問題。單詞aftermath指“the
result following a bad event such as an accident or
war”（由事故或戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)而導(dǎo)致的結(jié)果），很確切地表達(dá)了漢語“余秧，余波”的內(nèi)涵。
由此，“善后” 的相應(yīng)英文表達(dá)就是“to properly handle the aftermath of the
accident”。新聞中，由上下文，accident可用incident（空襲這一事件）來代替。另外，handle和deal
with做“處理”時(shí)也可互換。
