Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1-2/3 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
2 packages (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
Sifted powdered sugar, for rolling
Instructions
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs, then chocolate. Sift together dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts, if desired. Chill 3 hours. Form into 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart. Bake in at 350 degrees about 7-8 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from sheet. Makes 4 dozen.
