Crafting the perfect eyebrow takes skill. Overpluck, and you have to fill them in with an eye pencil.
Celebrity eyebrow expert Anastasia Soare has some advice: Put down the tweezers and walk away.
Actually, she'd prefer for you to run to a Nordstrom or Ulta for her do-it-yourself brow kits ($65-$85), tool kit ($45) or products, including brow gel, $21, and powder, $28.
Soare recently visited Nordstrom in the Galleria for the opening of its Anastasia Brow Bar, now in 65 Nordstrom stores. It's a scaled-down version of her hip Beverly Hills, Calif., salon, where customers wait in line around the block for Soare's treatment.
"My goal is to keep the brow's natural shape," she said.
The Romanian native studied art and architecture before focusing on beauty. The art training helped her develop a knack for sculpting brows to fit a person's bone structure and hair texture.
For proof, check out her famous subjects: Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, Penelope Cruz and Oprah Winfrey.
Soare advises finding an eyebrow professional who can shape brows to complement your face. She plucks sparingly and doesn't use the popular threading technique, which involves pulling the hair from the follicle.
"It doesn't matter what you use," Soare said. "You need to know how to shape."
Soare recommends getting eyebrows shaped every three weeks. That goes for men, too. "I like to groom their brows, not make them look like women," she says.
