Amazing robot puts in an appearance at International Culture Summit

When a man-size robot, or cyborg, showed up recently at the 3rd International Culture Industry Summit- 7th Gansu Culture Expo, in the city of Lanzhou, Gansu province, it got immediate attention, especially since it was a female in all her finery.

The female cyborg was a hostess posted in front of the Lanzhou pavilion, in the Lanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, who said, “Hello, welcome to Lanzhou pavilion”, to passersby.

The cyborg was just one part of the Lanzhou pavilion, where the theme was advanced technology and modern culture, and the method was exhibits and videos. The female can understand Mandarin, English, Japanese and some Chinese dialects, but perhaps her most amazing characteristic is the ability to remember people who have spoken with her via face recognition.

Another eye-catcher was Lanzhou’s LED screens showing local song and dance programs, such as Peace Drum Dance and Sleeve Dance, and cartoons using Lanzhou culture, such as Legends of Dunhuang.
