A fashion show was held in Danzhai county in Southwest China's Guizhou province on July 2 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the establishment of Wanda Town.
Models from five continents wearing traditional costumes of the Miao ethnic group wowed the audience with a mix of Western fashion sensibilities and Eastern ethnic features.
With a total investment of 700 million yuan ($105 million) from China's real-estate giant Wanda Group, the tourism town is situated in the scenic area of Donghu Lake in Danzhai county.
It is a part of an agreement signed by Wanda and the local Danzhai government in December 2014 aimed at increasing quality of life among local impoverished residents.
More than 5.5 million tourists have visited the village since its opening last July, greatly aiding in poverty alleviation. Official statistics show that Danzhai county increased its tourism revenue to 2.43 billion yuan ($366 million).
