Hubei covers an area of 180,000 square kilometers (about 69,500 square miles) with a large population of 60,280,000. Its capital, Wuhan, is located in the southeastern part of the province.
Hubei is a central province of the People's Republic of China. It is situated in the middle reaches of theYangtze Riverand to the north of Dongting Lake.
Hubei possesses 5 national famous cultural and historical cities, boasts 20 relic sites under national protection, 365 relic sites under provincial protection.
Hubei has a subtropical monsoonal climate with distinct seasons, humid and hot summer, dry winter and the transitivity of the south and the north climates.
