A private porcelain museum opened to the public in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, on May 18. The museum is the first of its kind in the city.

Located in Leyu town, the museum covers an area of over 1,000 square meters and includes two exhibition halls. It displays some 300 porcelain pieces collected by Guo Wei, a collector who invested 12 million yuan ($1.96 million) into the construction of the museum.

Since its test operation, the museum has welcomed porcelain enthusiasts from around the country, including those from Suzhou, Shanghai, Yunnan and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. After the opening, additional collectors are expected to put their collections on display in the museum.

"Porcelain is a treasure of Chinese culture and part of China's intangible cultural heritage. The museum is aimed at promoting Chinese porcelain culture," said Guo.
