Shandong University (SDU) signed a cooperation agreement with the Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone on Oct 19 to set up its Sino-US technological innovation park in the zone, qingdaonews.com reported.

The project, aiming to create a transformation center for technological achievements and an industrialization base, will make best use of cooperation between SDU and more than 10 American universities to seek solutions to challenging issues in biology, medicine, energy and marine industries.

The park, which will cover an area of 40 hectares, will include international headquarters, departments for professionals and supporting facilities.

Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone and SDU will also join hands to build a SDU-Qingdao industrial technology research institute for company incubation and start-up investment, which is expected to yield a batch of cooperation and transformation projects in the future.
