When the first session of the coking industry science & technology conference opened in Beijing recently, the Shanxi Coking (Group) Co’s coal oven gas technology took second place at the awards ceremony.

There were 44 awards handed out for innovative technology, and 21 for innovation-oriented coking industry companies, at the conference ceremony, on Nov 22.

Coal oven gas technology is mainly used in the production of methanol, where coal oven gas is the raw material. The methanol is then used for the further processing of olefin, a fine chemical product with high-added value. The technology can be applied for the comprehensive utilization of coal oven gas, and in the modern coal chemical industry, with better economic and social benefits.

The coking industry is bearing a heavy responsibility in the age of environmental protection, as well as energy saving and reduced emissions, which were a major part the 44 technologies that got the awards.
