Shanxi province is neighboring with Hebei province in the east, with Shaanxi and Henan in the west and south through Yellow River as a natural border, and connecting with Inner Mongolia autonomous region through the continuous Great Wall in the north. It covers an area of 156,000 sq km, with its population of 33.92 million, 11 cities and 119 counties under its jurisdiction. The geography of Shanxi is very complex, including various kinds of landform as mountainous region, hill, tableland, basin and moss. Most part of the province is located at 1000 meters above sea level and the total area of mountainous region and hill covers more than 2/3 of the whole province. The major rivers are Yellow River and Hai River systems.
