Comment on "Airliner penalized for failing to answer SOS call" (China Daily, Aug 30)

It was good to know that an airline and its staff members were punished for endangering people's lives. We hope the punishment would send a clear message to people that such selfish behaviors will not be tolerated.

The same measures should be applied to irresponsible motorists who jump red lights, especially when pedestrians are crossing a road. These two misdemeanors, one in the skies and the other on the roads, are equally serious and deserve severe punishment, because they threaten people's safety.

I think the license of motorists who endanger public security should be revoked just like the pilots'.
