The long-lasting communication and cooperation between Australia and the China-ASEAN is a key concern for the Australian government and business circle. This year, Australia will be the first Special Guest Country to attend the 11th CAEXPO. The national pavilion of Australia will also make its debut.

Simon Merrifield, Australian ambassador to the ASEAN and the official representative of Andrew Robb, Australian minister for trade and investment, is leading a government delegation to attend the CAEXPO. The national pavilion of Australia will present its strength in trade, investment, education and tourism.

The Australia Investment Seminar will be held to introduce the investment environment, newest policies and key industries of investment attraction.

As an important part of Australian regional relations, Australia has maintained a long-term friendly cooperation relationship with China and ASEAN countries.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendly exchange between Australia and the ASEAN, as well as the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Australia and China.

China is Australia's largest trading partner, the largest source country of overseas students and the most valuable tourism market. The bilateral trade and bidirectional investment between Australia and China is growing forcefully.

In 2013, the total volume of bilateral trade reached $136 billion, among which the export volume of Australia to China added up to $92.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28 percent. The exported commodities and service to China accounted for one-third of the total export in Australia.
