The 11th CAEXPO Business Networking with Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselors in ASEAN Countries event took place on Sept 17, 2014. This year’s event was co-sponsored by the Department of Asian Affairs, China-ASEAN Expo secretariat, Department of Commerce of Guangxi, and the Guangxi Investment Promotion Agency. The China International Contractors Association also supported the event.

In the event, the counselors gave specific answers to enterprises regarding national conditions, tax situation, policies, industries, market requirements, channels, labor services and other aspects. They also voiced opinions and suggestions concerning the problems faced by enterprises in investing in ASEAN countries.

Vice-General Manager of China Road and Bridge Cooperation Liu Hong shared the experience of developing a project that was contracting in ASEAN countries. Wang Xu, general manager assistant of the development department of the project insurance market in China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, introduced the problem of risk prevention and financial support policies in investing in ASEAN countries, opening a pathway for private enterprises to enter the ASEAN.

About 100 entrepreneurs interacted and spoke with the counselors. They hailed from China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation, China MCC17 Group Co and other central enterprises; Anhui Foreign Economic Construction (Group), Henan Wantong International Economic and Technological Cooperation, and other key foreign economic enterprises in China; and Hanergy Holding Group, Qindao Techking Rubber Technology Co, Windpower Energy Co, Shunde and other famous private enterprises.

The networking event provided a strong impetus for Chinese enterprises to invest in ASEAN countries. It also provided an excellent consultation service for enterprises to identify the direction of investment, gain and open up market channels, know investment policies and gain fund support. It also offered solutions for problems facing enterprises investing in the ASEAN and expanded the room for development of Chinese enterprises investing in the ASEAN.
