The first group of historic and cultural neighborhoods in China has been released by the State Urban Environment Commission and Administration of Cultural The State Urban Environment Commission and Administration of Cultural Heritage released a list of 30 historic and cultural neighborhoods in China in 2015. Among them are five neighborhoods in Jiangsu province, namely, Meiyuan New Village and Yihe Road Residence Area in Nanjing, Pingjiang Road and Shantang Street in Suzhou and Nanhexia Area in Yangzhou.

Nanjing (Jiangsu province): Meiyuan New Village
In Nanjing, Meiyuan New village has the most diverse styles of residences from the Republic of China era. Historic sites, such as where the KMT and the communists negotiated, and ancient Buddhist temples make Meiyuan New village richly historic.
