In 2022, Xiamen Port, which is located in the coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province, achieved remarkable progress.

Official statistics indicated that the port opened 14 container liner routes, increasing the total number to 173. Among the total, 133 are designed for international trade and link with 149 ports in 55 countries and regions across the world.

Last year, its annual container throughput hit 12.43 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), a year-on-year increase of 3.22 percent, while its annual container throughput for foreign trade amounted to 9.34 million TEUs, accounting for 75.1 percent of the port's total amount.

Xiamen Port also deepened cooperation with its international business partners last year thanks to events such as the 2022 Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum, which was held by the port. As of the end of 2022, a total of 300 members joined the Silk Road Maritime platform, and has effectively promoted the city's opening-up.

In 2022, the port opened 14 shipping routes that serve countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, increasing the total number to 86, and linking the port city with 55 ports in 24 BRI countries and regions. Nine new shipping routes to Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement (RCEP) member states were added last year, bringing the total number to 96, and and connects with 58 ports in 11 RCEP member countries.

Efforts were also made to promote the development of combined rail-sea transport services, with Xiamen Port transporting 65,300 TEUs of containers via rail-sea intermodal transportation, an increase of 40.16 percent year-on-year.
