Farewell, Expo!

The 2010 World Expo in Shanghai came to an end on Oct 31 with grand parades to bid farewell. A record 73 million people visited the Expo. And a record 246 countries participated. Joining me for a final report on this year's big event is our international senior correspondent on all things Expo, Nathan Place.

Bachelor's Day

Nov 11 is Bachelor's Day, because tha's the date with all those single digits, as in 11-11. It's becoming an annual celebration among young people in China, where men outnumber women. It's a day to either celebrate being free and unattached, or a day to pick on singles who have become couples. Let's look in on a typical Bachelor's Day.

Wedding for one

Here's one way a bachelor can get married without becoming a couple. Marry yourself. That's what a young Taiwan woman will do tomorrow. She's getting plenty of letters of support, too, from other women who don't want to get married to someone they don't like just because their parents are pressuring them. Since it's a wedding for one, does that mean I only have to bring half a present?

Welcome to the 2010 Alley Games

In sports, it's the 2010 Asian Games that will attract world attention this month. The games start Nov 12 and run through Nov 27 in Guangzhou. And there are new sports like Twenty20 cricket and dancesport that are being introduced. But what about the sports that were turned down for the Asian Games? They're being showcased at the Alley Games.
