TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Sunday warned against any new UN Security Council resolution against the country.

"Adoption of a new resolution goes contrary to the constructive and positive cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," Hosseini told a weekly press conference.

He said if such a resolution is passed, "it will have adverse consequences on the implementation of bilateral agreements."

Hosseini also reiterated that the Islamic Republic would continue its cooperation with the IAEA.

He said IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei's reports on the Iranian nuclear program, particularly the latest one on the P1 and P2 centrifuges, have confirmed that all positions taken by Iran in the past four years were "logical, correct and transparent."

ElBaradei released a report on Thursday, admitting that Iran has made some progress in revealing the extent of its nuclear program but still refuses to halt the enrichment activities, defying UN resolutions.

The United States and some other Western countries have been alleging that Iran may try to develop atomic bombs under a civilian cover. But Tehran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

The UN Security Council has already issued two sanction resolutions against Iran's nuclear program since last December, but both of them failed to stop the Islamic Republic from engaging itself in uranium enrichment work.
