CAIRO - Egypt's incumbent Interior Minister Mansour el-Essawy began testify in ex-President Hosni Mubarak's trial on Wednesday amid intensive security measures outside the court, local newspaper Youm7 reported.

Mubarak and former Interior Minister Habib el-Adli were accused of killing peaceful protestors during the anti-government protests that toppled Mubarak earlier this year.

Essawy was supposed to testify on whether Mubarak and el-Adli ordered to kill peaceful protestors during the turmoil.

Omar Suleiman, the former intelligence chief who was appointed as the vice president in late January by Mubarak in order to calm down the protests, testified on Tuesday.

The Cairo Criminal Court was supposed to summon chairman of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi on Sunday, and chief of staff of the armed forced Sami Anan on Monday, but their testimonies were postponed to September 24 and September 25 due to the country's security situation.
