For the former fishermen, lives have changed for the better. Wang Tianrong, 63, became a potato farmer in 2020 and enjoys a stable income and pensions. "I live a peaceful life now, but I prefer to live by the river and guard it," he said. "I want to witness large fish laying eggs with my own eyes."
