Regulations on driving a motor vehicle in China

Foreigners who drive a motor vehicle in China shall have lawfully obtained a valid motor vehicle driving license issued by Chinese government (including a temporary driving permit). Otherwise, it will be regarded as driving without a license and be punished in accordance with the existing Chinese laws and regulations.

Both motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles shall pass on the right side. Whoever drives a motor vehicle shall have lawfully obtained a motor vehicle driving license or driving permit. In driving motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles, drivers shall strictly act in line with road traffic signs, traffic line markings and the command of traffic policeman, as well as the laws and regulations on road traffic safety.
