PRISTINA -- One person was injured on Tuesday in EU Rule of Law mission (EULEX) helicopter crash at the Pristina International Airport in Kosovo.

EULEX confirmed that the helicopter, owned and operated by the Starlite Aviation Company, contracted by the EULEX Mission in Kosovo to provide transportation services, crashed at around 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) during an emergency landing.

"The helicopter was on a training flight with a medical evacuating team consisting of two HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service - a doctor and a paramedic) and two pilots", the mission said in a statement.

One of the HEMS members suffered injuries and was immediately taken to Pristina University Hospital.

EULEX personnel also provided medical support, and there were no EULEX staff members on board, the mission explained.

The injury was also confirmed by airport spokeswoman, Valentina Gara. She said that due to the incident the airport has been officially closed and flights will resume only after the airport comes back to normal.
